Numbers 2:1–2 Our families’ lives should be centered on Jesus Christ and around the temple, which binds us to Him and can seal us as forever families. Receive of His Fulness Receive of His Fulness Why is having Faith in Jesus Christ important to everything else in the gospel, church, and kingdom? “When you climb up a ladder,” Joseph Smith taught, “you must begin at the bottom, and ascend step by step, until you arrive at the top; and so it is with the principles of the gospel—you must begin with the first, and go on until you learn all the principles of exaltation” ( Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith  [2007],  268 ). They must have formed strong bonds of brotherhood as they fellowshipped together, praying, fasting, discussion gospel truths, and sharing the gospel. Can you imagine in those circumstances that there might be come with chewing tobacco or cigarettes littering the floors. It wasn’t uncommon in those days for people to do so in settings that should have had a reverential decorum. Emma didn’t much care to clean up the mess left behind and she let Joseph know. Joseph took those concerns to the Lord. As a result, we now have “The Word of Wisdom”, section 89 of the Doctrine and Covenants. Verse 4 states why this counsel (or commandment) was given to the saints: 4  Behold, verily, thus sa...
