30 Much Is Given Much Is Required

Much Is Given Much Is Required Much Is Given Much Is Required Doctrine and Covenants 81 was first a revelation to Jesse Gause, who was called as a counselor to Joseph. Because he was unfaithful, Fredrick Williams was called in His place and his name was put in the revelation instead. We need to understand that even though the revelations in the Doctrine and Covenants are given to specific people of that day, they are also personally applicable to us now. The Spirit can help us apply the truths and understanding which we receive in them to ourselves. 1 Nephi 19:23 23  And I did read many things unto them which were written in the books of Moses; but that I might more fully persuade them to believe in the Lord their Redeemer I did read unto them that which was written by the prophet Isaiah; for I did liken all scriptures unto us, that it might be for our profit and learning. 29 I Will Lead You Along

I Will Lead You Along I Will Lead You Along Because the Church was growing quickly, in many areas, there was a need to purchase properties and help the saints relocate and fulfill their responsibilities. The Lord called upon some of the Church leaders to form The United Firm (a council to help further the cause of Zion). verse 4 “For a permanent and everlasting establishment and order unto my church, to advance the cause, which ye have espoused, to the salvation of man, and to the glory of your Father who is in heaven;” All things are spiritual to the Lord. His purpose is to prepare us to return home to Him. verses 7, 18 7  For if you will that I give unto you a place in the celestial world, you must prepare yourselves by doing the things which I have commanded you and required of you. 18  And ye cannot bear all things now; nevertheless, be of good cheer, for I will lead you along. The kingdom is your...

Voices of the Restoration: Testimonies of “the Vision” Testimonies of “the Vision” Wilford Woodruff Brother Woodruff’s first impressions of “The Vision”, D&C 76: “I was taught from my childhood that there was one Heaven and one Hell, and was told that the wicked all had one punishment and the righteous one glory. … “… When I read the vision … , it enlightened my mind and gave me great joy, it appeared to me that the God who revealed that principle unto man was wise, just and true, possessed both the best of attributes and good sense and knowledge, I felt He was consistent with both love, mercy, justice and judgment, and I felt to love the Lord more than ever before in my life.” “The ‘Vision’ [is] a revelation which gives more light, more truth and more principle than any revelation contained in any other book we ever read. It makes plain to our understanding our present condition, where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going to. Any man may ...

28 Great Shall Be Their Reward and Eternal Shall Be Their Glory

Great Shall Be Their Reward and Eternal Shall Be Their Glory Great Shall Be Their Reward and Eternal Shall Be Their Glory Many have asked the question, “What will happen to me after I do.” I’m thankful for the many scriptures that teach us the Plan of Salvation and the eternal nature of the soul. I am thankful for the experience that our family had in the life and death of our son Robby. I am thankful for latter-day revelation that lets us know there isn’t just one heaven and one hell, but there are many kingdoms of glory. Our Father loves us all, and He sent His Son to redeem us all. I am thankful to be a recipient of His grace. verse 19 When has the Lord touched the eyes of your understanding? Like Joseph and Sidney, we can feel and know the truth of the Vision and of other revelations through our desire, the Lord’s kindness, and the power of the Holy Ghost. Heaven is broad and expansive and inclusive. Thanks be to God for His love and His mercy, and for the gift of His So...

No Weapon That Is Formed against You Shall Prosper No Weapon That Is Formed against You Shall Prosper The Church has faced opposition and critics since its beginning. But when Ezra Booth starting publishing ill-founded reports against the Church, It increased insult and persecution. verse 1 We should not respond it kind, but we should declare truths and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. 9  Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you—there is no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper Ezra Booth and Isaac Morley For Kids I can defend the truth by sharing my testimony. Doctrine and Covenants 71 See Heading section. Chapter 25: Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon Go on a Mission We are instructed to teach the gospel and uphold the truth. We are also taught that contention is not of God, but of the devil. Stand for the Right Allow the children to share their feelings about Jesus Christ.
