27 No Weapon That Is Formed against You Shall Prosper
No Weapon That Is Formed against You Shall Prosper
No Weapon That Is Formed against You Shall Prosper
The Church has faced opposition and critics since its
beginning. But when Ezra Booth starting publishing ill-founded reports against
the Church, It increased insult and persecution.
verse 1
We should not respond it kind, but we should declare truths and proclaim the
gospel of Jesus Christ.
9 Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you—there is
no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper
For Kids
I can defend the truth by sharing my testimony.

and Covenants 71
See Heading section.
Chapter 25:
Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon Go on a Mission
We are instructed to teach the gospel and uphold the truth.
We are also taught that contention is not of God, but of the devil.
Allow the children to share their feelings about Jesus
Christ.
The Spirit will guide me as I proclaim the Savior’s
gospel.
Doctrine
and Covenants 71
No one should be criticized from their love of the Savior,
and His Gospel and Church. But it happens. Make sure you do not make a mock for
your neighbors who may believe and worship differently from you.
How did the Savior respond to His critics?
Matthew
22:15–22 Vs 21 Render therefore unto Cæsar the things which
are Cæsar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.
26:59–64
Vs 65 Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand
of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
John
10:37–38 37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
38 But if I do, though ye believe not
me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that
the Father is in me, and I in him.
Matthew
18:15 15 ¶ Moreover if thy brother
shall trespass against thee, go and tell him
his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou
hast gained thy brother.
Ephesians
4:31–32 31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and
clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with
all malice:
32 And be ye kind one to another,
tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake
hath forgiven you.
2
Timothy 3:12 12 Yea, and all that will live godly in
Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
James
1:19? 19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift
to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according
to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege.
We need to show respect for believes, and be willing to give an answer for our
own faith in a kind and respectful way, to both God and our neighbor.

Discipleship in the Latter Days
For Kids
The Lord has called a bishop to help me.
Doctrine
and Covenants 72:2
Read 2 For verily thus saith the Lord, it is
expedient in me for a bishop to be appointed unto you, or of you,
unto the church in this part of the Lord’s vineyard.
Why do you think the Lord gives us Bishops?
Chapter 17:
The First Bishops of the Church
Always teach about Jesus Christ. “No
matter what you are teaching, remember that you are really teaching about Jesus
Christ and how to become like Him” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way, 6).
For example, when you teach your children about bishops, emphasize that they
are representatives of Jesus Christ, called by Him to do His work (see 1 Peter
2:25).
25 For ye were as sheep going astray;
but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your
souls.
The Lord asks bishops to care for people in need.
The Lord blesses me through the ministry of leaders like
bishops.
Doctrine
and Covenants 72
What things were required of Bishop Whitney that our Bishops
today might not have to do? What are the common roles for Bishops?
verse 5
How do we render an account of our stewardship to the Bishop, (and to other
church leaders)?
verses
10, 12 In our day, “the Lord’s storehouse” can include the donations,
service, and talents of ward members. How do you contribute to the Bishop’s
Storehouse today?
How have you and your family been blessing by having a
Bishop?
Bishops—Shepherds
over the Lord’s Flock
For Kids
I can give my best effort to the Lord.
Doctrine
and Covenants 75:3
What is the difference between being idle and laboring with
your might?
3 Behold, I say unto you that it is my will that
you should go forth and not tarry, neither
be idle but labor with your might—
What things might be considered being idle or being lazy?
What things might show that we are dedicating our time and doing good work?
Why is it important that we do our best when serving the
Lord?
Two
Principles for Any Economy
I have many opportunities to share the Savior’s gospel.
Doctrine
and Covenants 73
“When Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon returned from their
missionary assignment (see Doctrine
and Covenants 71), the Lord told them to continue their translation of
the Bible (see Guide to the Scriptures, “Joseph
Smith Translation (JST),” Gospel Library). But that didn’t mean He wanted
them to stop sharing the gospel. After all, it’s part of the life of a
disciple.”
Sharing the gospel is part of being a disciple. No matter
what our other callings and assignments are, we should always be ready and
willing to share the gospel.
verse 4
In what ways are you or will you make sharing the gospel both more practical
and practicable. I believe that as I practice living the gospel, I am sharing
by example and showing that the gospel is practicable not just for me, but for
others.

Sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ can be normal and
natural.
“Labor with your might … proclaiming the truth.”
Doctrine
and Covenants 75:1–16
This section is for missionaries.
verse
2 2 Hearken, O ye who have given your names to go
forth to proclaim my gospel, and to prune my vineyard.
As you read section 75, make two lists: (1) how to
share the gospel effectively and (2) how the Lord blesses and supports us
as we do. (See notes below.)
3 Behold, I say unto you that it is my will that
you should go forth and not tarry, neither be idle but labor with
your might—
The Lord wants us to be actively seeking and testifying of
Him. We can’t just sit and wait for opportunities, we must be ready for them
continually, and even prepare a way for them.

Revelation given to Joseph Smith the Prophet and Sidney
Rigdon, at Hiram, Ohio, December 1, 1831. The Prophet had continued to
translate the Bible with Sidney Rigdon as his scribe until this revelation was
received, at which time it was temporarily laid aside so as to enable them to
fulfill the instruction given herein. The brethren were to go forth to preach
in order to allay the unfriendly feelings that had developed against the Church
as a result of the publication of letters written by Ezra Booth, who had
apostatized.
Vs 1 The time is now. Share those things that the Spirit
asked you to share. You need to seek to have the Spirit with you so that you
can invite others to come to Christ and proclaim His gospel.
Vs 4 I need to labor in the Lord's vineyard too. How am I
preparing for the commandments and revelations which are to come?
5 Now, behold this is wisdom; whoso readeth, let him
understand and receive also;
6 For unto him that receiveth it shall be given more
abundantly, even power.
9 Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you—there is
no weapon that
is formed against you shall prosper;
10 And if any man lift his voice against you he
shall be confounded in
mine own due time.
11 Wherefore, keep my
commandments; they are true and faithful. Even so. Amen.

Revelation given to Joseph Smith the Prophet and Sidney
Rigdon, at Hiram, Ohio, January 10, 1832. Since the early part of the preceding
December, the Prophet and Sidney had been engaged in preaching, and by this
means much was accomplished in diminishing the unfavorable feelings that had
arisen against the Church (see the heading
to section 71).

Revelation given to Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Wayne
County, New York, in 1830. Even before the organization of the Church,
questions had arisen about the proper mode of baptism, leading the Prophet to
seek answers on the subject. Joseph Smith’s history states that this revelation
is an explanation of 1 Corinthians
7:14, a scripture that had often been used to justify infant
baptism.
5 Wherefore, for this cause the apostle wrote unto the
church, giving unto them a commandment, not of the Lord, but of himself, that a
believer should not be united to an unbeliever; except the law of Moses should
be done away among them,
6 That their children might remain without circumcision; and
that the tradition might be done away, which saith that little children are
unholy; for it was had among the Jews;
7 But little children are holy, being sanctified through the
atonement of Jesus Christ; and this is what the scriptures mean.

Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at
Amherst, Ohio, January 25, 1832. This section comprises two separate
revelations (the first in verses 1
through 22 and the second in verses 23
through 36) given on the same day. The occasion was a conference at
which Joseph Smith was sustained and ordained President of the High Priesthood.
Certain elders desired to learn more about their immediate duties. These
revelations followed.
Vs 1 Jesus supplies His credentials before issuing callings
to labor in His vineyard.
16 And he who is faithful shall overcome all things,
and shall be lifted up at the last day.
Vs 16 It appears that if keep our faith in Jesus Christ and
fulfill our assignments in His kingdom, we will eventually overcome all things
(through Him) and be lifted up to eternal life.
27 Let them ask and they shall receive, knock and it
shall be opened unto them, and be made known from on high, even by the
Comforter, whither they shall go.
