All Things Must Be Done in Order
Hiram Page lacked understanding. He couldn’t receive
revelation for the Church.
Doctrine
and Covenants 28:13 For all things must be done in order, and by
common consent in the church, by the prayer of faith.
Doctrine
and Covenants 28:2 The prophet is the only one duly appointed by God to
receive revelation for the Church and for the world.
Doctrine
and Covenants 28:15 We can receive revelation for ourselves to govern our
lives.

The sacrament helps me remember Jesus Christ.

Luke
22:19–20; 3 Nephi
18:1–11 Although Jesus originally used wine for the sacrament, now water is
used.
Read Doctrine
and Covenants 27:1–2. How can we keep our eye single to the glory of God?
What should we focus on when we partake of the sacrament? How does it help you
to sing the sacrament hymns and bow your head when the sacrament prayers are
said?
We can look at pictures of Jesus, read scripture stories about Him, and sing songs
to remember Him all week long, like we promise to do during the sacrament. What
are some things that help you think about Him and about how you can be His
disciple during the sacrament?
I take the sacrament in remembrance of Jesus Christ.
Doctrine
and Covenants 27:1–4
Sally Knight and Emma Smith had to wait for a while to be
confirmed after their baptism, because of a mob disturbance. Later when they
were confirmed, Joseph went to obtain some wine for the sacrament. He was
stopped by an angel.
Doctrine
and Covenants 27:1–4: It didn’t matter that they had wine for the
sacrament. The Lord didn’t want them to purchase wine from their enemies.
The sacrament is a time for us to commune with the Lord and
to remember His sacrifice and Atonement for us. The emblems themselves
represent the body and blood of Jesus Christ, and there should be thought and
care about that.
How can I partake of the sacrament with an eye single to His
glory? Think about and pray on that.
Luke
22:19–20 ¶ And he took bread, and gave thanks, and
brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is
my body which is given for you: this do
in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper,
saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood,
which is shed for you.
3 Nephi
18:1–11 Jesus took the time to give the sacrament to all those who were
gathered together in the Americas to be taught by him. He taught the purpose of
the sacrament, and how it was to be done with property authority by one He had
called and ordained for this purpose.

verse 15
How can the Armor of God help us withstand the evil day?
What can you do to not contribute to the evil day or become
a part of it? How can you make it a righteous day for yourself and for others
around you? What part does the temple play in all this? What blesses have you
received in the temple that arm you with power to withstand the evil day?
The armor of God helps me stand against evil.
Doctrine
and Covenants 27:15–18
President M. Russell Ballard said: “There is not
one great and grand thing we can do to arm ourselves spiritually. True
spiritual power lies in numerous smaller acts woven together in a fabric of
spiritual fortification that protects and shields from all evil.”
Doctrine
and Covenants 27:15–18
What are you doing to put on each piece of the armor of God?
Epheisan 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour
of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all,
to stand.
Doctrine and Covenants 17:15 Wherefore, lift
up your hearts and rejoice, and gird up your loins, and
take upon you my whole armor, that ye may be able to withstand the evil
day, having done all, that ye may be able to stand.

Prayer Always: ALL PRAYER AND SUPPLICATION IN THE SPIRIT:
Stay in harmony with the will of the Lord. Do not vary from the covenant path. Seek

in His Church. The Prophet, the President of the Church, is the one that the
Lord has designated to receive revelation for the Church and for the world.

The Prophet and Revelations for the Church
Oliver thought that Hiram Page was also receiving revelation
as a prophet. He asked Joseph about it. Joseph prayed about it and found out
that the Lord only has one prophet for the Church at a time. He told Oliver
that Hiram had been deceived and that the revelations he received weren’t from
God. Jospeh asked Oliver to talk to Hiram. He did, and Hiram Page repented.

and Covenants 28.

and Covenants 28:2 The Lord directs His Church through one man, the current
prophet.
Russell M. Nelson has been called by the Lord to direct His
Church in this day.

The prophet received revelation and commandments for the
whole church. We can receive individual revelation for our own lives.
Doctrine
and Covenants 28:1, 4, 15
We can receive spiritual guidance so that we can teach the Lord’s commandments
and revelations with His power.
John
14:26 The Holy Ghost can teach us all things, bearing testimony to truth;
and He can bring all things to our remembrance.
Moroni
8:26 If we repent, we can become humble and meek and be taught by the Holy
Ghost.
10:4–5
The Holy Ghost can teach us the truth of The Book of Mormon: Another Testament
of Jesus Christ. By the power of the Holy Ghost we can know the truth of all
things.
Why was a mission to the Lamanites significant?
Doctrine
and Covenants 28:8–9
The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Christ was written
for the Lamanites by their ancestors.
Doctrine
and Covenants 3:20 And that the Lamanites might come to the
knowledge of their fathers, and that they might know the promises of
the Lord, and that they may believe the gospel and rely upon
the merits of Jesus Christ, and be glorified through faith in his
name, and that through their repentance they might be saved. Amen.
1 Nephi
13:34–41 Nephi saw that his words would be taken by the Gentiles to the
seed of his brethren in the latter-days.
Enos
1:11–18 Enos, and his fathers, had prayed mightily that their records be preserved
so that they could be the means to bring salvation to the Lamanites in a future
day. The Lord covenanted that it would be so.
Helaman
15:12–13 It was prophesied that the Lamanites would again be taught the
gospel and be brought into the truth and be numbered among the Lord’s sheep.

Revelation given to Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Harmony,
Pennsylvania, August 1830. In preparation for a religious service at which the
sacrament of bread and wine was to be administered, Joseph set out to procure
wine. He was met by a heavenly messenger and received this revelation, a
portion of which was written at the time and the remainder in the September
following. Water is now used instead of wine in the sacramental services of the
Church.
Doctrine
and Covenants 27:5–14 Write down the names of the prophets in these
scriptures. What do you know about them?
Vs 4-14 New wine is not necessarily vermented.
This is going to be a huge sacrament meeting, that spans all
the dispensations of the earth. Be faithful, so you can witness it and be a

Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet to
Oliver Cowdery, at Fayette, New York, September 1830. Hiram Page, a member of
the Church, had a certain stone and professed to be receiving revelations
by its aid concerning the upbuilding of Zion and the order of the Church.
Several members had been deceived by these claims, and even Oliver Cowdery was
wrongly influenced thereby. Just prior to an appointed conference, the Prophet
inquired earnestly of the Lord concerning the matter, and this revelation followed.
Vs 2 The current prophet is the only one that is appointed
to receive commandments and revelations for the church.
16 And thou must open thy mouth at all times,
declaring my gospel with the sound of rejoicing. Amen.
